An engaged man says he’s feeling “blindsided” after his fiancee asked him for a “hall pass” to have sex with other men before they get married next month.
Speaking to the enigma on Reddit on Monday, the 28-year-old admitted he’s not sure if he should call off the wedding after the bride-to-be’s bizarre proposal.
“It seemed like everything was wonderful and mutual,” the man wrote of his 29-year-old lady of four years. “This stupid idea of hers completely blindsided me. I could tell she had been thinking about it for some time and was just waiting for the perfect moment to bring it up.”
Adding insult to injury, the fiancé claims that her idea of adultery is a “healthy” way to enter the marriage.
“She also claimed she would help get everything out of our systems,” the man added. “In the four years we’ve been together, I’ve never thought about being with anyone else, but it hurts to know she doesn’t feel the same way.”
“I’m not sure if she has a guy in mind or just wants a one night stand,” he further admitted.
After expressing his disdain, the bride-to-be tried to turn the idea around. However, the damage was already done as he gave her the cold shoulder.
Now consumed by feelings of “betrayal,” the engaged man isn’t sure their relationship is on thin ice.
“Besides the emotional pain, we have been living together for two years. We have a whole wedding planned with people coming for us,” he wrote.
“I’d like to try to sort this out, and maybe I’m overreacting. My friends think I should cut my losses and move on.”
He asked for the opinions of neutral parties online and the consensus was to get out as much as possible.
“Your friends are right, cancel the wedding, tell everyone why, cut your losses and move on,” one commented. “Breakups and annulments are no fun to deal with, divorce and shared custody are much worse.”
“Free passes are like chips you can never have just one,” added another. “Ending the relationship before the wedding may be inconvenient, but it will be much better than getting divorced in the future.”
“Finish it and leave. It killed any trust in the relationship. No trust, no relationship,” advised a third.
